Kitchen storage ideas – how to store tea towels
Cabinet space in my kitchen is always at a premium and my cupboards are full of essentials. I wanted a solution for storing tea towels without dedicating an entire drawer to them.
I needed them to be easy to reach and simple to put away after use.
Storing tea towels and kitchen cloths in small tin pots has worked really well. I can take the pots out, fold the towels neatly, place them in the pots and return the pots to the cupboard.
It’s quick, efficient and saves space. Now the pots live under the sink where they’re out of the way but close to where I use them.
Declutter your tea towels and kitchen cloths
Before you neatly store tea towels, do a quick declutter so you only keep what you actually need.
- Discard or repurpose any stained or torn towels; they make great cleaning rags.
- Consider how many you really need. For a typical family home, around 10 kitchen tea towels and 4–6 cleaning cloths is usually enough.
- Fold towels neatly so they fit into the storage pots—compact folding maximizes space.
- Place the pots under the sink or in a nearby cupboard so they’re easy to access when needed.
