A quick and easy homemade baked chicken nugget recipe!
These baked chicken bites are irresistibly delicious—crispy on the outside and tender inside. The butter adds a rich, savory note that makes them a family favorite.
To make this simple recipe you’ll need about 3–4 boneless chicken breasts cut into bite-size pieces, 2 eggs, 1/2 stick of butter cut into pieces, 2 cups of crushed Ritz crackers, and seasoning to taste.
The Ritz crackers provide a salty base, but I like to add garlic powder and Italian seasoning to the crumbs before coating the chicken. Feel free to customize the seasoning to your preference—black pepper, paprika, or onion powder all work well.

This buttery, crunchy chicken is versatile—serve it as a snack with your favorite dipping sauce or as a main dish with a salad or vegetables. Both kids and adults love it.

You can make the chicken any size you prefer: leave breasts whole, slice into strips, or cut into bite-size pieces. Cutting into nuggets increases the crunchy surface area and gives you more of the buttery, seasoned coating in every bite.

Famous Butter Ritz Chicken Recipe (Nugget Style)
Ingredients
- 3-4 boneless chicken breasts (cut into bite-size pieces)
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 2 cups crushed Ritz crackers
- 1/2 stick butter (cut into pieces)
- seasoning to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease or line a 9×13-inch baking dish. (See notes below before starting.)
-
Place beaten eggs in one bowl and the crushed crackers in another. Season the cracker crumbs with garlic powder, black pepper, and/or Italian seasoning.
-
Dip each chicken piece into the eggs, then coat thoroughly in the seasoned cracker crumbs.
-
Arrange the coated chicken in the baking dish and distribute the butter pieces evenly over the top.
-
Bake on the middle rack for about 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink.
Notes
- To crush crackers easily, place them in a large zip-top bag and roll over them with a rolling pin. Two sleeves of Ritz crackers usually yield about 2 cups of crumbs.
- Avoid dropping wet chicken directly into the crumb bowl, which can make crumbs soggy. Instead, use dry hands to sprinkle crumbs over each piece so the coating stays crisp.
- You can bake this with whole chicken breasts, but they will require a longer baking time. Cutting into nugget-size pieces gives more crispy coating per bite and reduces baking time.

Don’t forget to pin and save these yummy baked chicken nuggets for later! 🙂
