Keto French Toast combines my famous low-carb keto bread with sugar-free maple syrup for an indulgent, keto-friendly breakfast. Made with almond flour-based low carb bread, this recipe adds a few simple touches to create a rich, satisfying morning meal.

When I bake a perfect loaf of keto bread, I always think about what else I can make with it. Keto bread works in many recipes — from coconut bread and cloud bread to quick, almost-instant loaves — and french toast is one of the best ways to use leftover slices. The result is comforting and familiar, but low in carbs and full of flavor.
On cool mornings, a plate of warm french toast with a cup of black coffee makes for a cozy start to the day. For a special twist, try coating the toast with a thin layer of peanut butter before assembling, or serve with a dollop of cream for extra richness.
The secret to a great low-carb french toast is slicing the keto bread thick. Thick slices soak up the egg mixture while holding their shape, giving a tender center with a crisp, golden exterior when pan-fried. Make sure you have enough bread on hand—these are great for breakfast and a tasty leftover for lunch.

Popular toppings include powdered erythritol and sugar-free maple syrup, but you can vary the finish to suit your tastes. Blueberry-flavored sugar-free syrup, a squeeze of lemon and a pat of butter all work well. For a decadent treat, serve a scoop of keto ice cream alongside the toast.
If a topping or sauce pairs well with pancakes, it will almost always be a good match for french toast. Use that guideline to experiment with toppings and add-ons.
I hope you enjoy making this keto french toast as much as I do. If anything in the recipe is unclear, leave a comment and I’ll help clarify. You’ll get the hang of it quickly—enjoy!

Tap or hover to scale
Ingredients
- 4 Thick Slices Keto Bread
- 2 Large Eggs
- 2 Tbsp Butter
- 1 Tbsp Peanut Butter (Optional)
- 1 Tbsp Heavy Cream (Optional)
- 2 Tbsp Sugar Free Maple Syrup (Optional)
- 1 Tbsp Powdered Erythritol (Optional)
Instructions
-
Make or have ready a loaf of keto bread and slice it into thick pieces.
-
Whisk the eggs in a shallow bowl. If using, stir the heavy cream into the eggs for a silkier custard. Pour the mixture into a flat dish and soak each thick slice of keto bread about 2 minutes per side so it absorbs the egg mixture.
-
Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and add the butter. Fry each soaked slice for about 3 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through.
-
Optional: mix peanut butter with a little cream for a smooth spread. Spread this on the inside of two pieces before stacking, or serve it on top.
-
Finish with a dusting of powdered erythritol and a drizzle of sugar-free maple syrup. Add extra heavy cream or butter if desired, and serve warm.
