Caramel Peanut Butter Apple Dip Recipe for Parties and Snacks

The kids are always hungry when they get home from school, so I like to have something ready for them to snack on as soon as they walk in the door. A fruit basket stocked with apples, bananas and other produce is a must, and this caramel peanut butter apple dip pairs perfectly with fresh fruit. It’s quick to make and uses just four main ingredients: cream cheese, peanut butter, marshmallow fluff (creme) and caramel sundae sauce.

Both apple-and-caramel and apple-and-peanut-butter are classic combinations, and this dip brings them together into a creamy, slightly fluffy spread. The cream cheese gives body and richness, while the marshmallow creme lightens the texture—I have to admit, I love marshmallow creme for making dips extra airy.

I keep a variety of after-school snacks on rotation because the kids usually come home starving and sometimes bring friends with them. Some of our favorites that pair well with dips and quick bites include Reese’s Pieces trail mix, fruit-and-nut trail mix, bacon cheeseburger sliders for a heartier snack, and honey-roasted peanuts for crunch.

Use a mixer to blend the cream cheese until smooth.

The first step is to beat the cream cheese until it’s smooth. You can combine everything at once, but I find that beating the cream cheese on its own first gives the dip a lighter, whip-like consistency. Beat it until there are no lumps and it’s completely smooth.

Add peanut butter, marshmallow cream and caramel sauce to the cream cheese.

Once the cream cheese is soft and silky, add the peanut butter, marshmallow fluff and caramel sauce. I use creamy peanut butter so the dip stays smooth rather than chunky. The marshmallow fluff contributes a light, airy texture, and store-bought caramel sundae sauce works great here—it’s sweet, pourable and easy to keep on hand.

Blend the mixer until smooth and creamy.

Use an electric hand mixer to blend everything until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Scrape the bowl as needed to ensure all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Drizzle some extra caramel sauce on top of the spread.

When the dip is ready, I like to drizzle a little extra caramel sauce on top for a glossy finish and a bit more caramel flavor. It makes the dip look inviting and adds a sweet counterpoint to the peanut butter.

The kids tried this right away and gobbled it down—sliced apples were a hit, and sliced bananas worked wonderfully, too. I’m still undecided which I like better with the dip: apples or bananas. Either way, it’s a crowd-pleaser for an after-school snack or casual gathering.
