I had a wonderful breakfast at Eat’n Park in Monongahela one Sunday morning. My girlfriend and I met her mother-in-law after church for a quick meal before the lunch crowd arrived, and our group of seven was ready to eat and catch the Steelers game later that afternoon.

We hadn’t eaten at Eat’n Park in years—my last visit was probably when my father was in town—so I was curious to see how the menu had evolved. After a short wait, we were seated at a spotless table. Our friendly waitress, decked out in Steeler colors, took our drink orders and handed out menus. I noticed they now offer flavored cappuccinos and seasonal desserts; the pumpkin cake on the table tent looked tempting.

We started with a bowl of chicken noodle soup. It arrived steaming hot, packed with generous country-style noodles and a hearty broth. The portion was generous, and the cinnamon rolls that came alongside looked and smelled excellent.

For my main course I ordered eggs Benedict Florentine with a side of crispy, deep-fried hash browns. I admit I was a little doubtful—would they pull off perfectly poached eggs and a well-made hollandaise? Yes. The hollandaise was flavorful and properly seasoned, and the poached eggs were light and cooked just right. The dish included chopped bacon, fresh garden tomatoes, and a toasted English muffin. The hash browns were nicely fried and paired perfectly with plenty of ketchup.

I was impressed by the freshness and quality of the food. Service was cheerful and efficient, portions were generous, and the flavors were on point. Next time I’m craving eggs Benedict, I’ll head back to Eat’n Park—hopefully the Steelers will be playing better too.
